Location:

Eco-Con

Schedule:

B Block (9:00-11:00 M-F)

Description:

All life-forms are closely linked and depend on one another for their existence. This dependency is called the “web of nature” and at its base is the soil which plants stem from. We all have a place in the great web of nature and should be concerned about what happens to the soil, water, and all things we call natural resources. Soil and Water Conservation aims to bring a greater awareness about the land and water around us. Scouts working on Soil and Water Conservation Merit Badge will learn about the importance of soil and water at the base of the “web of nature”, the effects mankind has had on the geographical environment, and what conservation efforts can be made in order to protect these environments. Soil and Water Conservation is one of the electives for the World Conservation Award and for the William T. Hornaday Award.
