Spend a week in the Northwoods learning about and actually experiencing “Horse Camping”.  Begin by learning the basics of Horsemanship at the Triangle M Ranch.  Plan your horse camping trip, prepare the necessary gear and head out on a 4 day camping trip with the horses.  Learn how to care for the horses, pack, picket, and experience first hand modern horse camping techniques.  A variety of skills pertaining to horse camping will be covered including knot tying, campfire cooking, and equipment care.  Emphasis will be on all aspects of safety for both rider and horse.

Number of Youth:  Minimum 2, up to 12

Requirements for all Horse Camp Cavalcade

  • Be at least 14 years old the day your program begins.
  • Be physically fit, able to lift and handle materials up to 30 lbs.
  • Be a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America (Boy Scout or Venturer)
  • A complete physical examination is required (BSA’s Annual Health and Medical Record will be sent to those who are accepted).
  • Maximum weight limit on horseback is 220lbs.
  • Boots/shoes with smooth sole and minimum 1 inch heel. (No lug soles)  Western type riding boots preferred. (Helmets provided)
